Meddling in Mother's Garden

A stick in the mud.
Critters come to cuddle,
meddle in grubs,
their feet in the hollow.

That poor old sap
spilling its drink
on old folks
in petticoats --

Lizards licking sheep
in anger...
You know,
we were taught to be strangers.

I told you, behave;

Who are we?
Animals among the trees
taking drinks from our cups
that double as voice?

Never a day we not be at rest -
where we not love our cousin, nature.
Where we not be free as bark on trees.

This day never come,

but it be meant to.

Our Mom

She spoke so soft,
"I will love you forever",
it never became its own lie.
Strong were her words
as they took away shadows,
keeping safe our fragile minds.

I have never known someone
quite like her,
and not care I, what you have to declare;
she is mine, she is his,
& I will love her forever,
'til given my last breath of air.

Step-Monster

How can a woman be so cold?
As if a demon swept up her soul -
Took it away to the hollows beneath,
kept it in stomach, held as a feast.

This wicked, she stands,
a mosquitoed mouth
burrowed in victims
swallowing shouts.

Holds no mercy
to the truest believer,
crushing their will
as they stand just beneath her.

Will no morning come? Will no victim rise?
To cast her down through photographer's eyes?
To gaze then, upon her
to show her what's what!
May no glory save us
from this feminine smut?
May no warmth become her?

A bottle, a pen
this ink will destroy her
killing her, then.
Taking her reign to a solid end.

My Reaper, such a humble friend by comparison.
